Jenny Smith - Sound Design Consultant

Jenny Smith is a performer, educator, and multi-instrumental musician based in Sherman Oaks, California. Jenny holds a vast experience as a performer in the marching arts, having performed on synth and mallets for organizations such as Gold Drum and Bugle Corps, Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, and Broken City Percussion. As a contemporary and classical performer, she has also performed in various ensembles as a pianist and percussionist with the California State University, Northridge Department of Music.

A passionate and forward-thinking educator, Jenny has instructed and consulted for multiple middle and high schools in the San Fernando Valley, seeing incredible growth and success in the programs. At the world-class level, Jenny has previously served on staff with the Madison Drum and Bugle Corps. Jenny is deeply passionate, in particular, about creating a space for front ensemble rhythm sections performers to thrive and grow to their full potential as performers, musicians, and people. In her teaching, Jenny not only amins to provide quality instruction in performance practice, but teaches students how to foster and apply the skills learned through music to become upstanding and dedicated members of their community throughout their lives.

Currently Jenny teaches at Granada Hills Charter High School and Broken City Percussion. Her first year on staff at Broken City, Jenny is is excited to be able to learn more from some of the best educators in the activity while giving back to the activity through her teaching and outreach. When not performing or teaching, Jenny works with the Sherman Oaks Chamber of Commerce in connecting local businesses to each other within the community, exploring the many sights of Southern California, or spending time with her friends, family, and numerous pets.
